What the park charges on top
The rate above buys you a bed. Ruaha National Park charges its own entry fee for every day you are inside. Here is what that adds up to.
- Park entry$30 plus 18% VAT, charged per 24 hours.

- Vehicle$40 plus VAT for a foreign-registered vehicle up to 2,000 kg; most safari 4x4s sit above that and pay $150 plus VAT. A Tanzanian-registered one is about $9.

Three nights means three days inside, so two adults sharing one vehicle pay $354 in park fees before anyone pays for a bed.

What the rate covers is not confirmed. We do not know yet whether meals, drinks and activities are included, so read this as the bed only.

Questions about Kokoko Camp
Is Kokoko Camp good for families?
Only for families with older children. Kokoko sets a minimum age of 12, because of the camp's exposed layout and its emphasis on walking safaris. With just three tents and a maximum of six guests taken as one exclusive booking, it suits a single family or small group travelling together.
Can you book Kokoko Camp for exclusive use?
Yes, that is the only way to book it. Kokoko has three double or twin tents and is taken privately for a maximum of six guests, with your own vehicle and guide included. You will not share the camp with another party.
What does the rate at Kokoko Camp include?
Full board, house drinks except champagne, a private vehicle and guide, night drives, walking safaris and transfers to and from the nearest airstrip. Park fees, camping fees, conservation charges and extra lunches at $25 a person are charged separately, so budget for those on top of the nightly rate.
Can you self-drive to Kokoko Camp?
No, Kokoko is fly-in only. The closest airstrip is Msembe, about 45 minutes from camp by road, and transfers to and from it are included in the exclusive-use rate.
Does Kokoko Camp have wifi?
Yes, but it is limited. Tents have electricity outlets and a retractable roof for sleeping under the stars, and showers are by bucket rather than plumbed hot water, in keeping with the camp's deliberately simple, exposed style.
